MAPEKO Energy Saving Program

MAPEKO ESP (Energy Saving Program)

Rising energy costs and limited fuel resources require innovative ideas, in order to save fuel and energy.

For decades MAPEKO has been continuously working on ideas to save fuel and the development of energy efficient burners. The company has therefore developed the MAPEKO ESP (Energy Saving Program) and offers the most efficient and ecological - friendly burner systems for its customers.

The MAPEKO energy saving program is based on four technological solutions:

  • Cardanic suspended heat shield
  • MAREKU Recuperator
  • Burner technology
  • Soft Drying System FOEHN®

Additional Oxygen System

The heating/drying of pitch- or resin -bonded refractory bricks are associated with harmful emissions. MAPEKO has therefore developed a post-combustion system to eliminate these harmful emissions.

The additional oxygen system for MAPEKO heaters enables us to achieve the lowest possible emissions through virtually complete combustion of pollutants. This system is especially suitable for ladles that have pitch-and-resin-bound insulation. In cooperation with steel plants and DEKRA, verification was given that MAPEKO post combustion systems almost completely combusts all harmful exhaust gases.

The measured emission values were found to be well below the legal limit.

Direct combustion process with housing

During the heating/drying of pitch- or resin -bonded refractory bricks, harmful gases are emitted from the lining due to the pyrolytic decomposition of organic binders. These harmful gases escape into the working environment through evaporation holes that can be found in the steel shell of the ladle. This causes, with the addition of significant health risks, serious pollution to the environment. In the case of conventional ladle preheaters without the combustion process, these harmful gases are released unfiltered, through the exhaust, into the atmosphere.

MAPEKO has developed a thermal direct combustion method to burn these harmful gases during the heating and drying of pitch- or resin -bonded refractory bricks. With the help of added oxygen, these harmful gases are combusted inside the ladle and do not enter the environment.
The ladle is completely surrounded with a tight housing. Gases that escape through the evaporation holes are sucked back into the ladle for combustion, by means of a special process.

According to the official measurements, carried out by DEKRA, all hazardous components are almost completely burned.

The unique thermal direct combustion system guarantees a permanent and constant efficient incineration of hazardous constituents.
